Power generation reaches highest level of 19248 MW: Khwaja Asif
Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif says power generation in the country has reached its highest level of 19248 megawatt setting a new record in the history. In a tweet message on Saturday, he also congratulated the nation over achieving this milestone. The Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali has also congratulated the nation over peak production of power in the country.
Pakistan expresses desire to open new horizons of investment, cooperation with Russia
Minister for Industries and Production Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi says Pakistan is desirous of opening new horizons of investment and cooperation with Russia. He was talking to Russian Minister for Industry and Trade Denis Manturov at Saint Petersburg in Russia. He said that Russia must take advantage of Pakistan's investment friendly policies especially auto policy. Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi apprised the Russian Minister about China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project, political and economic stability and economic policies of the government. The Russian Minister for Industry and Trade also offered Pakistan investment in Sukhoi Superjet 100.
Pakistan strongly condemns terrorist attack in Kabul
Pakistan has strongly condemned the terrorist attack at a funeral in Afghan capital Kabul. In a statement, Spokesperson Foreign Office expressed grief and sorrow over the loss of precious lives and inflicting injuries to many others in the incident. He reiterated that Pakistan stands shoulder-to-shoulder with its Afghan brethren in their anguish and mourning.
Pakistan elected chair of WHO executive board
In a major development, Pakistan was elected as chair of the World Health Organizations Executive Board. The elite group considered the highest global policy forum on health comprising of 34 members countries elected Pakistan as its chair during its 141st session held on 1st June in Geneva where after Director General Health of Pakistan Dr. Assad Hafeez formally assumed office as Chairman of the Executive Board. The election was a two tier process. The first phase was held at the regional level while the final phase at the global forum. Pakistan was first elected by the group of 22 countries comprising the Eastern Mediterranean Region and later at the global forum by the Executive Board comprising of 34 countries.
Verification process of blocked CNICs initiated in Bajaur agency
Bajaur Agency administration has initiated the verification process of the blocked computerized National Identity Cards of the residents. Talking to newsmen in Bajaur Agency, Assistant Political Agent Anwarul Haq said the verification process of blocked CNICs has been launched on the directives of interior ministry. He said that a cell has been established in Khar to examine the causes behind the blockage of CNICs. He said initially the verification process has been started in five tehisls of the agency including Nawagai, Chamarkand, War Mamond, Lovi Mamound and Barang.
BISP survey to be launched in next three months across Sindh: Marvi
Minister of State and Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme Marvi Memon has said fresh BISP survey would be launched in next three months in several districts of Sindh. The districts are included Badin,Thatta, Sanghar, Dadu and others during which all houses would be listed for data collection that to only deserving families can get the assistance . She said Smart Card system has been replaced with Biometric Verification System (BVS) for stipend payments to BISP beneficiaries to ensure transparency and effective service delivery.
