US Senators laud Pakistan’s sacrifices in war on terror
Delegation was apprised about socio-economic development efforts in Agency.
A delegation of US Senate headed by Senator John McCain along with Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa visited South Waziristan Agency on Monday.
The Delegation was briefed about Pak-Afghan border security including recent measures for its improvement through fencing and enhanced surveillance.
It was also apprised about socio-economic development efforts in the Agency.
The delegation was flown over the Agency to have view of the border area, newly constructed forts, posts and development works including schools, colleges, hospitals, sports stadium, water supply schemes and roads communication infrastructure.
The US Senators, having seen the realities on ground, acknowledged efforts and sacrifices by Pakistan Army and of the local tribes for reestablishing peace and order in the area. They reiterated importance of institutionalized Pak-Afghan border security coordination and cooperation mechanism.
Meanwhile, the United States wants strong partnership with Pakistan in defeating terrorism.
This was stated by members of a delegation of the US Senate led by John McCain after visiting South Waziristan Agency today.
The Senators termed the visit very important and informative to help understand the challenges, success, and future cooperation between the two countries.
They expressed the hope that with the right cooperation and strategy the monster of terrorism can be defeated.
The delegation lauded the sacrifices of the people and the Pakistani military in their resolve to fight terrorism.
