Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said Pakistan's armed forces are fully capable to promptly respond to any threat.

He was talking to Air Chief Sohail Aman who called on him in Islamabad today.

The Prime Minister praised the professionalism of Pakistan Air Force.

Matters pertaining to PAF development strategy and future goals were also discussed.

The Air Chief briefed the prime minister about operational preparedness of the Air Force, particularly the training aspects.

Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar and Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz were also present on the occasion.



The second unit of Sahiwal Coal Power Plant with a capacity of 660 MW is being inaugurated today.

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and Planning Minister Minister Ahsan lqbal will inaugurate the plant.

The plant is a part of China Pakistan Economic Corridor Project.

It has been completed in twenty-two months at a cost of one point eight billion dollars.



Hassan Nawaz, the younger son of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, is recording his statement before the Joint Investigation Team, formed to probe the Panama Papers Case. 

It is the third time that Hassan Nawaz is appearing before the JIT.

Strict security arrangements have been put in place in and around the premises of theJudicial Academy where the statement is being recorded.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar is also to appear before the JIT in the afternoon.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif have already recorded their statements before the JIT.

Hussain Nawaz and Maryam Nawaz will also appear before the investigation tomorrow and Wednesday respectively.



Talking to the media persons outside the Federal Judicial Academy, PML (N) senior leader Asif Kirmani said the family of the prime minister has submitted attested documents before the JIT.

He noted that the report of the JIT will remain incomplete as long as it does not record the statement of the Qatari prince.

He said Qatari prince has repeatedly invited JIT to record his statement.



Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Dr. Maleeha Lodhi has urged the major powers to help resolve Kashmir and Plaestine issues.

In an interview to the London-based  Alquds Alarabi Newspaper, she said big powers are obstacles in the way of peaceful solution of these issues, which are reflective of deteriorating situation in the region.

She said in Indian occupied Kashmir,  the human rights

Violations are unprecedented in scope and intensity and these atrocities have been condemned by international media.

On Palestine issue, the Security Council has continuously endorsed a two-state solution.



In Occupied Kashmir, All Parties Hurriyat Conference has termed the notice issued by New Delhi’s Enforcement Directorate to APHC Chairman Syed Ali Gilani and his colleagues as unjustified.

An APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said  the move is an attempt to pressurize and intimidate Syed Ali Gilani and the resistance leadership.

The Enforcement Directorate had served a notice on Syed Ali Gilani and others in a fifteen-year-old fake case. However, no foreign exchange was recovered from Gilani’s house in the raid of 2002.

The APHC said the notice is a pressure tactic aimed at deterring the pro-freedom people from advocating their just cause.



Beijing has called the presence of a US warship near a disputed island in the South China Sea a serious political and military provocation.

It claimed that The USS Stethem sailed within the territorial limits of Triton Island.

The United States has repeatedly warned China against its occupation of islands in disputed waters, but Beijing says it has sovereign rights over these islands.
