No regional peace without Pakistan, U.S. senator McCain says in visit- Pak-US strategic partnership is critical for enduring peace and stability in the region: Sartaj

Foreign Affairs Advisor Sartaj Aziz has said Pakistan and US strategic partnership is critical to achieve peace and stability in the region and beyond. He was talking to a five-member US Senate delegation led by Senator John McCain in Islamabad on. The Adviser underscored the significance of the longstanding cooperation between the two countries and the need to make this partnership diverse and multi-dimensional. Speaking on the occasion, Senator McCain appreciated the contributions and sacrifices made by Pakistan in the fight against terrorism. He said that continued engagement with Pakistan is very important. Sartaj Aziz also apprised the delegation about Pakistan’s success in combating terrorism through Operation Zarb-e-Azb and Radd-ul-Fasaad. The Adviser said that Pakistan remained committed to support efforts for lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan.

Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua says Pakistan wants to maintain good relations with all its neighboring countries. In an interview, she said 20 Pakistanis detained in Indian prisons have completed their sentence but Indian authorities are not releasing them. Tehmina said Kulbhushan Yadav is a serving Naval commander and he has confessed to all of his crimes; therefore, he has no privilege of consular access as per Pak-India agreement of 2008. Foreign Secretary said US administration is reviewing policy towards Pakistan and both Islamabad and New Delhi are now being treated equally.
