Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan Akja Nurberdiyeva called on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Wednesday and discussed bilateral relations.

In his remarks, the Prime Minister said that frequent exchanges of Parliamentary delegations would prove to be enormously beneficial for strengthening of Democracy in the two brotherly countries.

The Prime Minister further said that Pakistan and Turkmenistan enjoy friendly relations, but there are huge opportunities to further expand the scope of our bilateral relationship; especially enhancing the economic ties .

The Prime Minister said that Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline is a flagship project of great significance for both the countries as well as the region. The earliest realization of this Gas Pipeline project would advance our shared goals of energy security and regional prosperity. He said apart from helping Pakistan in the fulfillment of its gas requirements, the project will integrate the region economically and politically.

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz also met the visiting Chairperson of Turkmenistan Parliament Akja Nurberdiyeva and specially discussed bilateral relations with focus on energy, economic cooperation, parliamentary exchanges and cultural cooperation.
