Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has directed for payment of compensation to the people affected by Mirani Dam.

The Minister gave these instructions during a meeting with Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Malik Baloch in Islamabad today.

An amount of 1.5 billion rupees has already been paid to the affected people.

It was agreed that the federal and provincial governments will equally share payment of remaining amount.

The Minister informed the Chief Minister that eighteen new, modern passport offices are being set up in Balochistan to facilitate the people. 

The Chairman FBR, on this occasion briefed the Chief Minister that customs check posts at different key locations in Balochistan are already functional and that establishment of new check posts as desired by the provincial government will be accorded due consideration to regularize trade activities.

There was complete consensus during the meeting on activating the Gwadar Port to its full potential as it will greatly enhance to the national revenue.
