Commerce Minister Khurram Dastgir Khan says the government is working on opening up new avenues for trade with the ASEAN countries and the Central Asian Republics.

He was talking to Executive Secretary, United Nations ESCAP, Dr.Shamshad Akhtar in Islamabad.

The Minister said last year’s economic performance clearly depicts that economic policies of the government are taking us nearer to our goals day by day.

He said the government is all set to expand and further strengthen trade ties with Afghanistan and Central Asian Republics.

The Minister said recent commitment of both the governments of Afghanistan and Pakistan has injected a new hope that CASA-1000 and TAPI projects would materialize soon, bringing economic prosperity and trade integration in the region.
