SENATE-DEBATE:

The Senate on Friday resumed discussion on the budgetary proposals for the next fiscal year.

 

Participating in the debate, Rehman Malik said overseas Pakistanis should be fully facilitated in order to encourage remittances.

 

He said maximum resources should be diverted towards energy sector in order to provide relief to the people.

 

Usman Khan Kakar called for equal development of all areas of the country.

 

Javed Abbasi said that overall security and economic situation stands improved in the country as a result of policies of the government. This is the reason that the foreign investors are pouring in with their investments.

 

He said world financial institutions are also recognizing the economic gains made by the country over the last four years. 

 

The House has been adjourned to meet on Monday at 11 a.m.

 

NA-DEBATE

The National Assembly resumed discussion on Friday on the budget for the year 2017-18.

 

Taking the floor, Leader of the Opposition Syed Khurshid Shah said that the budget is meant for the betterment of the masses and contribution of opposition in its passage is important.

 

He said speeches of all the Parliamentary leader should be broadcast live as it will strengthen democracy in the country.

Minister of State for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb has stressed the need for taking concrete measures to present soft image of Pakistan around the world.

 

Chairing a meeting in Islamabad on Friday, she directed all allied departments of the Ministry including Radio Pakistan, PTV, APP, Pakistan National Council of the Arts, and Lok Virsa to prepare effective programmes for the purpose.

 

The minister directed PTV and Radio Pakistan to project their archives abroad through Pakistani missions.

             

INDEX:

Pakistan has been ranked 9th in the Belt and Road Infrastructure Development Index. 

 

This was stated in a report issued at the 8th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum in Macao China.

 

The report was made by China International Contractors Association and Dagong Global Credit Rating.  

 

SUSPECTS:

Thirty three suspects were arrested in Peshawar and Mardan on Friday.

 

According to police, nineteen suspects were apprehended in Peshawar and fourteen in Mardan.

 

Meanwhile, police foiled an attempt of terrorism in Charsadda and recovered a huge quantity of arms and ammunition.

Seven Farraris of a banned outfit along with their commander Nahlan Alias Langri surrendered before the officials of intelligence agencies in Dera Bugti District.

      

They vowed to quit subversive activities and accept writ of the government.

 

They also surrendered a huge cache of arms to the officials and determined to remain loyal to Pakistan.

                

OBITUARY:

Prominent senior lawyer and former Attorney General Sharifuddin Pirzada passed away in Karachi on Friday.

 

He served as Foreign Minister, Federal Law Minister and Secretary General of OIC from 1985 to 1988.

 

He was of ninety four years.  

 

He was also awarded Nishan-e-Imtiaz for his services in 1998.

                  

KASHMIR

In Occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyet Conference has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health of illegally detained resistance leaders languishing in different jails in the held valley.

 

In a statement issued in Srinagar on Friday, the APHC spokesman said these ailing leaders including Aasiya Andrabi, Abdul Subhan Wani and Ghulam Muhammad Tantray and others should be provided proper medical treatment.

 

The Spokesman appealed to the world human rights organizations including International Committee of Red Cross and Amnesty International to take cognizance of deteriorating health of the Kashmiri political detainees and use their influence for their release.

In Group-A match of ICC Champions Trophy Australia will play against New Zealand at Birmingham on Friday.

 

Pakistan will play their first match against India at the same venue on Sunday.
