Pakistan, Afghanistan should work together to counter terrorism: Aizaz
The envoy denies accusations leveled by the Afghan intelligence that Haqqani Network is operating from safe havens in Pakistan's North Waziristan region.
Pakistan's Ambassador to the United Sates Aizaz Ahmed Chaudhry has said that Pakistan and Afghanistan should work together on counter-terrorism operations.
In an interview with Washington Times, he vehemently denied accusations leveled by the Afghan intelligence that Haqqani Network is operating from safe havens in Pakistan's infamous North Waziristan region.
Aizaz Chaudhry said the Haqqani Network is on the run in the wake of large-scale counterterrorism offensives in North Waziristan and they have moved into Afghanistan and need to be taken care of there.
He said scapegoating Pakistan for failures in Afghanistan will not help the security situation in either country. He also questioned how Afghan intelligence officials were able to determine responsibility for the strike so quickly.
