Today is the last day for filing appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers of the contesting candidates in the first-ever Local Government elections in the federal capital.

The appeals will be disposed of tomorrow and day after tomorrow.

The contesting candidates can withdraw their nomination papers on Sunday and the final list of contesting candidates with their symbols will be issued on Monday.

According to the Election Commission, a total of four thousand one hundred and ninety candidates have filed their nomination papers for the polls.

The Local Government elections will be held in seventy-nine Union Councils on 25th of this month.

There will be thirteen seats for each Union Council. These include one Chairman, one Vice Chairman, six general seats, one youth, one peasant or worker member, two women and one minority.
