Pakistan has secured the seat of executive board member of UNESCO by getting 135 votes out of 183 total votes.     

This was stated by Minister of State for Education, Engr Baligh Ur Rehman.  

He said that Pakistan will now be able to get opportunities to contribute towards the policies of UNESCO in the domain of education, culture and social uplift.

The victory is being seen as the recognition by the world of principled stand taken by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his government on various issues of international significance.
