UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon has voiced deep concern about renewed Israeli attacks on Gaza which killed over seventy Palestinians.

His statement comes after the collapse of a humanitarian ceasefire brokered by the UN and the United States to help end nearly a month of violence.

He urged both sides to show maximum restraint and return to the agreed 72-hour humanitarian ceasefire.

Meanwhile, King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia has said war in Gaza is a crime against humanity.

In a statement on state television, he deplored that the international community is watching all this silently with all its institutions and organizations.
