The President has expressed satisfaction over the cooperation between the government and opposition in formulating national policies which will help further strengthen democracy.

PRESIDENT

President Mamnoon Hussain has said that successful completion of three years of democratic journey is testimony to the political maturity of the nation.

He was addressing joint session of the Parliament in Islamabad today.

The President said this is reflective of the fact that the system is capable enough to sustain crises and take the country forward on the path of durable progress and stability.    

He said the government that ensures rule of law, economic development and provision of basic needs to the people easily overcome challenges, succeed in stabilizing democracy and reinforce the relationship between an individual and the state.

The President said he was glad to note that both the government and opposition are cognizant of this and are formulating policies in the light of this philosophy to strengthen democracy.     

President Mamnoon Hussain said it is now responsibility of each individual, class and institution to earnestly contribute towards reinforcing this positive trend.       

He said the government, be it of any political party, should formulate policies in accordance with the tested principle so that democracy can take roots and the people may lead a prosperous life.  

Enumerating to three year's economic achievements of the Government, the President said tax system and collection has improved, foreign exchange reserves increased, GDP has steadily expanded and this year growth has been 4.7%. He said budget deficit stands reduced, inflation controlled and the rupee stabilized.

 

MARYUM:

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who underwent a cardiac-surgery in London is now improving and expected to return to Pakistan within three weeks after the  doctors allow him to travel.     

Talking to various private television channels, Maryam Nawaz said the Prime Minister is successfully operated upon for the heart ailment and according to the doctors this surgery would make him more healthy. 

Maryam Nawaz thanked people from different walks of life including political workers and leaders for their prayers and well wishes for the Prime Minister.

 

MEXICO

Foreign Minister of  Mexico has congratulated Pakistan over successful heart surgery of Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif in London.

In a message he conveyed sincere wishes for his good health and early recovery.   

 

SOCIAL MEDIA

People belonging to different walks of life  posted their thoughts and best wishes for Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on various social media websites after his successful open-heart surgery in London.

The entire nation prayed for the success of his operation and for his quick recovery.

In this regards, The hash-tag `#BestWishesToMyPM' remained as the top trend on Twitter for many hours.

 

FATEMI

Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi has underscored the importance of increased engagement between Pakistan and Sweden in all areas particularly economic, education and culture.

He was talking to a two member Swedish delegation who called on him in Islamabad today.    

Cooperation in international forums on issues of regional and international importance also came under discussion during the meeting.

Tariq Fatemi also briefed the Swedish delegation about Pakistan's comprehensive strategy to effectively deal with the menace of terrorism and extremism.  

The Swedish delegation appreciated Pakistan's success in the campaign against terrorism and acknowledged Pakistan's positive strides in all fields, including the economy and law and order.

 

 

PAK-US BUSINESS

The two day U.S.-Pakistan Business Opportunities Conference will start in New York tomorrow.

The conference is aimed at building business-to-business linkages between U.S. and Pakistani businesses.

The conference will particularly focus on fashion apparel, health care, information communication technology, and agriculture.

 

TERRORISTS

Six terrorists were killed in security forces operation in Layya District this morning.

Arms and ammunition were also recovered from their possession.

 

TUNNEL

The world's longest and deepest rail tunnel is to be officially opened in Switzerland today, after almost two decades of construction work.

The 57km   tunnel will provide a high-speed rail link under the Swiss Alps between northern and southern Europe.
