Turkish president reiterates resolve to fight terrorism
Recep Tayyip Erdogan says terrorists are trying to create chaos and destabilize Turkey by targeting innocent civilians.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoganhas said that Turkey would fight to the end against all forms of attacks by terror groups and their backers.
In a statement, Erdogan said as a nation, we will fight to the last not only against terrorist groups but also against the economic, political and social supporters of them.
He said that the terrorists are trying to create chaos and destabilize our country by targeting civilians but we will never allow them for such dirty games on our soil.
Meanwhile, Turkish cabinet minister said on Sunday that majority victims of the attack on revelers celebrating New Year in Istanbul were foreigners.
Quoting Family Minister, Anadolu news agency says the victims include citizens of several Arab countries, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Lebanon, and Libya.
Meanwhile Belgium's foreign ministry has confirmed a Belgian-Turkish dual national was killed while Israeli foreign ministry said a young Israeli woman was killed and another Israeli wounded in the attack.
