Govt mobilising all resources to bridge power shortfall: Iqbal
Planning Minister says a number of hydel, coal, solar and wind power projects have been initiated
Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal says the government will welcome private sector's investment in power generation to overcome the energy crisis.
He was speaking at a function after inaugurating the test-run of six megawatt Bismillah Power Plant installed by a private Housing Society near Sheikhupura.
Ahsan Iqbal said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is well informed about the importance of private sector and that was why he had allowed all the owners of private housing societies to install power plants for their respective societies.
He said the PML-N government has taken the task of overcoming the energy crisis as a challenge and is mobilising all available resources to add more and more power to the national grid through different sources.
The Minister said new projects have already been initiated in the hydel, coal, bio-gas, solar and wind sectors to end the energy crisis.
